Project Gorgon Armor Guide: Types And Mitigation

Project Gorgon Armor Guide: Types And Mitigation

Armor in Project Gorgon reduces direct damage before it reaches your Health. For every 25 points of current Armor, you mitigate 1 point of direct damage. The 4 armor types cloth, leather, metal, and organic change your base mitigation, your Combat Refresh bonuses, and can unlock hidden 3 piece set effects.

Armor is not static. It drops as you take hits, so your mitigation gets weaker during long fights.

How Armor Reduces Incoming Damage

Your Armor shows as a yellow bar. Every 25 Armor equals 1 point of direct damage mitigation.

If you have 300 Armor left, you reduce direct hits by 12. As enemies chip away at your Armor, that reduction goes down. Slimes and Acid Spiders deal acid damage that targets Armor directly, which can strip your protection quickly. Some abilities also bypass Armor and hit Health, so mitigation is strong but not absolute.

Main Gear Slots That Provide Armor

Most of your Armor comes from 5 primary slots.

  • Head

  • Chest

  • Legs

  • Hands

  • Feet

These pieces define your base Armor value. Other items can roll small Armor bonuses, but the core of your mitigation comes from these slots. Animal forms like cow, wolf, and spider also use their own armor pieces.

Cloth Armor Strengths

Cloth has the lowest raw Armor values. It provides the largest Combat Refresh boost to Health and Power.

  • Crafted by Tailors

  • 120 enchantment points if crafted

  • 100 enchantment points if looted

  • Can add 2 pocket upgrades per piece

  • Can be max enchanted

Cloth works well for caster builds that depend on steady Power sustain. You trade durability for stronger refresh returns.

Leather Armor Balance

Leather offers medium Armor values. It boosts Combat Refresh for Health and Armor heavily, with a smaller boost to Power.

  • Crafted by Leatherworkers

  • 120 enchantment points if crafted

  • 100 enchantment points if looted

  • Can add 1 pocket per piece

  • Can be max enchanted

Leather fits hybrid builds that want solid sustain without going full tank.

Metal Armor For High Mitigation

Metal provides the highest Armor values. It gives the largest Combat Refresh boost to Armor, but the smallest boost to Power.

  • Crafted by Armorsmiths

  • Cow and wolf metal crafted by Toolcrafters and Blacksmiths

  • Most other metal armor is found as loot

  • 120 enchantment points if crafted

  • 100 enchantment points if looted

Metal is ideal for tank style builds that rely on high mitigation and steady Armor recovery.

Organic Armor And Niche Builds

Organic armor gives small boosts to Health, Armor, and Power during Combat Refresh. It cannot be dyed.

  • Crafted by Toolcrafters

  • Includes snail armor and Wintertide Ensign gear

  • Snail armor can be max enchanted

Spring Fairy armor counts as Cloth, not Organic. Organic works best for players who value faster refresh cycles over raw mitigation.

Hidden 3 Piece Material Bonuses

Wearing at least 3 pieces of the same material across the main armor slots activates a special effect on your Basic Attack. The game does not clearly explain this, but once active, the bonus appears in the Basic Attack description.

  • 3 Cloth: If Power drops below 20 percent, Basic Attack restores 20 percent of Max Power, once per minute

  • 3 Leather: If Health drops below 33 percent, Basic Attack restores 33 percent of Max Health plus Combat Refresh Healing, once per minute

  • 3 Metal: You mitigate 1 point of direct damage for every 50 points of Max Armor

  • 3 Organic: Combat Refresh triggers every 12 seconds instead of 15

These bonuses can shape your build. A 3 Metal setup adds steady mitigation for high Armor tanks. A 3 Cloth setup gives a strong emergency Power refill.

Crafting And Enchantment Value

Armor crafted through Tailoring, Leatherworking, Blacksmithing, or Toolcrafting rolls a random rarity between Uncommon and Legendary. Crafted armor has 120 enchantment points, while looted pieces have 100.

For optimized builds, crafted gear gives more room to stack the modifiers you want.

Restoring Armor In And Out Of Combat

Armor regenerates quickly when you are out of combat, ticking every few seconds. In combat, recovery is more limited.

Combat Refresh can trigger every 15 seconds when you land a Basic Attack that activates it. The strength of the refresh depends on your gear and skills. With 3 Organic pieces, the timer drops to 12 seconds.

Armor Patching restores Armor directly using a Simple Armor Patch Kit or better. It costs Power and has a 30 second cooldown.

Armor Potion restores Armor instantly during combat. These potions must be purchased or found, since they cannot currently be crafted.

Choosing the right Armor type depends on your weapon setup and how you survive extended fights. Metal favors mitigation. Cloth favors sustain. Leather balances both. Organic rewards faster refresh timing. Understanding how these systems interact will make a major difference in tougher zones and group content.
