Project Gorgon: Pet 10 Horses Quest Guide
The Pet 10 Horses objective in Project Gorgon is part of the quest Learning the Ways of Horses. You complete it by finding and petting 10 different wild horses in the open world. Finishing the quest unlocks the Riding skill and rewards horse apple seedlings plus Riding experience.
This quest is one of the earliest and cheapest ways to unlock Riding. If you do not want to pay 3000 councils to Mythander, this is the method you want.
How To Trigger Learning The Ways Of Horses
The quest begins automatically after interacting with wild horses in the world. When you see a wild horse, interact with it and choose to pet it.
After enough interactions, the quest Learning the Ways of Horses appears in your journal. From there, you must pet 10 wild horses total.
Wild horses exist naturally in multiple zones. They do not require a Horse Thief event to spawn.
Fastest Way To Complete Pet 10 Horses
The easiest locations for early players are:
Serbule
Serbule Hills
These areas have lower level enemies and accessible wild horse spawns.
To complete the objective efficiently:
Travel between known horse spawn areas instead of waiting in one spot
Avoid fighting while mounted or trying to tame during this step
Focus only on interacting and moving on
Each successful interaction counts toward the 10 total.
What Counts And What Does Not
Only petting wild horses counts toward the quest. Taming them is not required for completion.
Horse Thief events are not required for this quest. They release additional wild horses when cleared, but natural spawns are enough.
If you pet the same horse multiple times, it will not count more than once. You need separate valid interactions that progress the counter.
Rewards For Completing The Quest
When you finish petting 10 wild horses, you receive:
Riding skill unlocked
Riding experience
Horse apple seedlings
Those seedlings can be planted using Gardening level 6. Horse apples require water only and do not need fertilizer.
Once grown, horse apples can be used to tame a wild horse.
Common Issues Players Run Into
If the quest does not trigger, make sure you are interacting with true wild horses and not event specific creatures already in combat.
If progress seems stuck, move to another area and pet different horses. Sometimes spawn cycling is required.
Higher level zones may be dangerous for new characters, so staying in Serbule and Serbule Hills is recommended for early completion.
