Project Gorgon Skills List: Every Skill Explained
Project Gorgon has one of the deepest skill systems in any MMO, with dozens of combat, crafting, beast, and utility skills you can mix freely. Skills are learned from trainers, books, quests, or special conditions, and you can level almost everything on a single character. Below is a clean, complete overview of all skill types, written to help you understand what exists and why it matters.
How Skills Work In Project Gorgon
You can train many skills at once, but active combat skills have a balance rule. If one active skill is more than 25 levels higher than another, higher level abilities become unavailable until things even out. This encourages skill pairings instead of extreme stacking.
Most skills are optional. You build your character by choosing what to learn, ignore, or replace over time.
Please note we are currently working on updating this entire list (WIP)

How To Choose Skills As A New Player
Project Gorgon does not lock you into a class, so skill choice is about synergy and comfort, not right or wrong picks. Early on, it helps to focus on 2 combat skills and 1 or 2 support or crafting skills. Spreading too wide too fast slows progression and makes combat harder than it needs to be.
Starter zones reward survivability, sustain, and simple rotations more than raw damage.
Strong Beginner Friendly Skill Combos
These skill pairings are popular because they work well early and do not require rare gear.
Sword and Shield for steady damage and strong defense
Staff and Psychology for control and survivability
Fire Magic and Mentalism for damage with recovery
Unarmed and Meditation for simple gear needs and scaling power
All of these combos work with basic equipment and scale naturally as you explore.
Best Utility Skills To Train Early
Some non combat skills quietly make the game smoother if trained early.
Armor Patching keeps gear usable without constant replacement
Endurance helps with carry weight and stamina
Assessment unlocks more information about players and NPCs
Cartography levels naturally just by exploring
These skills do not require grinding and pay off long term.
Crafting Skills Worth Early Investment
You do not need many crafting skills early, but a few stand out.
Cooking provides reliable buffs and steady XP
Carpentry supports storage, tools, and later systems
Blacksmithing feeds multiple other skills
Foraging supports cooking, quests, and early money
Crafting becomes more valuable the longer you play, especially once markets stabilize.
When To Experiment With Weird Skills
Project Gorgon shines when you lean into its strange systems. Skills like Dying, Corpse Talking, Paleontology, or Performance may not matter early, but they unlock unique content later. It is usually better to experiment once you understand core combat and survival.
Nothing breaks if you try something odd and drop it later.
Final Note
The skill list in Project Gorgon looks overwhelming at first, but you are not meant to engage with everything at once. Pick a few skills, learn how they interact, and let the rest wait. The game rewards curiosity over optimization, and most builds work if you understand how your skills support each other.
